What is it about?

A model of precast segmental prestressed concrete bridge columns was tested under a constant axial load and a cyclically reversed horizontal load. The computer program, RCAHEST (reinforced concrete analysis in higher evaluation system technology) was used for the analysis of reinforced concrete structures.

Why is it important?

The proposed precast concrete footing system is intended to support segmental bridge columns and provides an alternative to current cast-in-place systems, particularly for projects in which a reduced construction time is desired.

Perspectives

I hope this article documents the testing of precast segmental prestressed concrete bridge columns with precast concrete footings under cyclic loading and presents conclusions and design recommendations based on the experimental and analytical findings.
