Why is it important?

Poor occupational safety and health (OS&H) results in an economic burden of 4% of the total world Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Effective OS&H regulations and their implementation are one of the main factors in achieving an improved safety performance. Industrial organizations normally reluctant to invest on safety, as they have less awareness of benefits from such investment. Adopting and implementing the occupational safety and health regulations in organizations are in their own interest. This not only reduce the cost associated with accidents but also maximize the production.

Perspectives

This was a great opportunity for me to lead a multi-national team which was having members from UK, India and Uganda. It is very important to know the key elements which contributes to safety output. One of the factors which we identified is the occupational safety and health regulations and it implementations. It is also important that such regulations needs to be review on periodic basis to effectively sever the industry requirement.
