What is it about?
In this paper we address issues that limite the use of Gas Phase Synthesis (GAS) of nanoparticles in industrial applications. Nanoparticles produced by GAS have very attractive properties: they are very pure, free of ligands and their structure, chemical composition can be highly controlled as well as their size and size distribution. However magnetron based GAS suffer from the lack of stability over prolongated periods of time which limited its use in mass production of nanoparticles and industrial applications. Here we explore the origine of the instabilities in GAS a present solutions that has been demonstrated to be efficient and cost effective.
