What is it about?
Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis is the most common autoimmune thyroid disease and the most common cause of hypothyroidism. In patients with thyroid nodule, elevated serum concentration of TgAb and TSH >1 mIU/ml are independent predictors for TC. The association between HT and TC is antibody specific.

Why is it important?
Our research study indicates that patients with autoimmune thyroid disease, particular with elevated thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb) may be at higher risk for thyroid cancer. Our findings suggest that TgAb is a specific marker for thyroid cancer. This finding may lead to earlier detection of thyroid cancer and possible improve prognosis.
