What is it about?
Melanin concentrating hormone (MCH) is a signaling molecule expressed in the brain of mammals where it has a key role in feeding behaviours and energy balance. It is also found circulating in the blood but whilst its actions in rodent brains are relatively well researched, very little is known about its actions in circulation in humans. We have measured MCH in diverse groups of people and investigated whether MCH which circulates in the body has similar effects to MCH which is expressed in the brain.
