What is it about?
The study is about the use of the VIKOR method (in general, one of the most famous and the most applied Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) method worldwide) in finding the optimal solution for the design of a trilateration geodetic micro-network. First, four alternative solutions were established based on predefined constraints in the field of criteria functions representing precision and reliability measures. Those alternative solutions were ranked after that, and then as the optimal solution the best one was chosen. The optimal network design also ensured the reliable detection of deviations in the positions of the control points in accordance with a priori introduced tolerances. This work represents a continuation of a research where the VIKOR method was used for the first time in the optimization of special-purpose geodetic networks. That research is: D. Anđić, ''Multi-Objective Optimization of Geodetic Control Network for Bridge Pillars Marking'' (published in Montenegrin: Višekriterijumska optimizacija geodetske kontrolne mreže za obilježavanje stubova mosta), Paper presented at the 3rd International Scientific and Professional Meeting ″Civil Engineering – Science and Practice″, Žabljak, Montenegro. Why is it important?
It turned out the approach based on the VIKOR method is a very efficient tool in tasks involving multiple conflicting requirements referred to a geodetic engineer and in the cases when the decision must be made in a short term.
