What is it about?
This paper aims to investigate a nonfood source of soybean oil as a green supply for the maintenance of pavements. Field test sections were constructed to evaluate different application rates, and performance and mechanistic evaluations were carried out over a ten-year flexible pavement. The binder extracted and recovered from the coating layer was evaluated regarding chemical and rheological methods. Results showed changes in the properties of the aged binder, which can indicate a rejuvenating activity of the bioproduct for both rates used in this investigation.

Why is it important?
Our most significant findings showed the recovery of properties related to the performance of asphalt mixtures, which reflected the mechanical resistance of the coating layer investigated in field test sections.
