What is it about?
Many soils contain small amounts of gas. The impact of the gas on the mechanical behavior of the soil is difficult to determine and requires complex laboratory experiments. This study summarizes different possibilities to implement gassy soil laboratory testing and addresses particular challenges in triaxial shear testing.

Why is it important?
We don't know much about gassy soils, because it is very challenging to analyse them. If we want to improve our knowledge in this field we need reliable and comparable testing methodologies. Therefore, we analysed the available alternatives and summarised suggestions for future implementations. This work is an important basis for future research activities.
