What is it about?

Earth pressure cells are extensively used to measure the soil pressures in various field applications. Proper calibration of these sensors is very essential to determine the reliable earth pressures. The calibration factor of these sensors is highly dependent on the type and nature of the contacting material. In this study, the effect of soil-(calibration chamber) wall interface and the arching are studied systematically on the calibration response in sand.
