What is it about?

The article reports on the response of a clay soil to drying and wetting, with observations of the volume change responses (shrinkage and swelling) that occur as the water content changes. The article presents a new apparatus that is capable of continuously measuring water content, soil suction and volume change as the soil is subjected to natural wetting and drying.
