What is it about?
A setup, sample manufacturing and testing procedure to perform small punch tests for irradiated specimen was developed. The setup and sample preparation is done remotely, using hot-cell manipulators. The setup was tested with reactor pressure vessel material.

Why is it important?
The Small Punch test technique is a relatively new miniature testing method. This paper supports its standardization and shares test development information. Miniature testing is particularly interesting in applications where limited materials are available and there are further interest in minimizing testing material needed.
Perspectives
I find the small punch test method interesting for applications where limited material is available and where there is a preference to work with small quantities test material.
