What is it about?
Conventional oven drying through convection heating is the standard way of defining the reference value of soil water content. However, IR-heating is superior in energy efficiency with comparable precision to conventional oven drying as shown in this writing. Hence, it is recommended to initiate a standardization of drying with IR ovens and abandon conventional ovens after a transition period, not for superior precision but to support sustainable and energy efficient solutions.
