What is it about?

Soil compaction characteristics were determined using an impact method and a kneading method. The tests were conducted so as to achieve identical results between the two methods. For low energy levels, the kneading method could replicate the results of the impact method, indicating that the kneading method gives similar results while requiring less material for testing.

Why is it important?

Determining the compaction characteristics of soils is important, but the most commonly used method requires a significant amount of material and time. This paper suggests an alternative method that may give the same results with little material and time required.
