What is it about?

The publication of an unpublished Byzantine source (6th c. AD) allows to a better understanding of the situation of the Iberian Peninsula during the 3rd to 6th c. AD. The presence of agrimensorial information, that means the management and organization of land through Roman rules, increases also the interest of the paper, due to the lack of information of the Late Antique agrimensores.

Why is it important?

- It is not usual to publish a new Ancient literary source, like in this paper. The information about the organization of Late Antique Roman Spain was totally unknown, and the new data challenges some of the traditional visions of the period.

Perspectives

There is still a lot of work to do about the Late Antique sources, and specially about the better understanding of the Agrimensores, the Roman land surveyors.
