What is it about?

This article discusses the rationale for integrating population health content into the curricula of Family Nurse Practitioner programs, one program’s approach to doing so, and preliminary lessons learned from this effort.

Why is it important?

A population health approach is important for establishing the Triple Aim of improving the health of the population, enhancing patient experiences and outcomes, and reducing per capita cost of care.

Perspectives

Healthcare providers must engage in activities that improve the health of populations at an affordable and sustainable price for individuals and the country. One strategy is to change the way we educate healthcare providers.
