What is it about?
Poetry works as a collaborative niche used to perform experiments with language. Translation replicates an experiment to observe how another language produces analogous results. Translation of poetry is a rare example of an ill-defined although highly structured case of situated problem solving.

Perspectives
Poetry is a cognitive artifact designed to investigate strange patterns of natural language behavior. This thesis has several predecessors and is based on the notion that language is a self-constructed cognitive niche, a biocultural niche, a cognitive technology, a cognitive tool, or a cognitive artifact.
