A high throughput immuno-affinity mass spectrometry method for detection and quantitation of SARS-CoV-2 nucleoprotein in human saliva and its comparison with RT-PCR, RT-LAMP, and lateral flow rapid antigen test

What is it about?

This study looked at a new method for the confirming SARS-CoV-2 infection in saliva. This test, SISCAPA-LC-MS, was able to detect viral proteins where existing tests like RT-PCR detect viral genetic material. The detection of proteins may give a different insight into infection. Four methods were compared on the same cohort of patients (N=102).
