Absorbent materials to collect urine can affect proteomics and metabolomic biomarker concentrations

What is it about?

In neonates and others who can't void spontaneously or have an indwelling urinary catheter, it is common to collect urine for biomarker analysis using cotton or synthetic material from diapers. We show that absorbent materials directly alter the quantity of proteins and metabolites found in the urine.
