What is it about?
Central adrenal insufficiency (CAI) is characterized by reduced cortisol production due to impaired ACTH secretion. Basal cortisol levels and stimulation tests are the cornerstones of CAI diagnosis, nevertheless the clinical background of the patient is fundamental.
