What is it about?
Industrial applications require to increase in permeability and magnetic flux density for higher performance and lower hysteresis losses, higher resistivity for lower Eddy current losses. Technical reality is that higher content of dielectric constituent in soft magnetic composite means lower higher resistivity and lower Eddy current losses, but higher hysteresis losses and lower saturation magnetization, It is possible to produce the excelent powder soft magnetic alloy in one hand, but it is hard problem with shaping and compaction of this powders on other hand. Magnetic, electrical and mechanical properties strongly depend on compaction process. Story of the compaction-microstructure-properties triangle in connection to powder soft magnetic composites is subject of this paper.

Limitations of dielectric bond materials and parameters of compaction technology are disscussed. Overview of magnetic, electrical and mechanical properties of the selected polymer bonded, ceramic insulated and hybrid soft magnetic composites in dependence on compaction technology are presented.
