Perspectives
While the primary use of the drug Letermovir is in stem cell transplanted patients for the prophylaxis against reactivation of cytomegalo virus, the virus infects 50% of the population in industrialized countries and appears to cause harm in a number of other circumstances, where the immune system is weak. Having created Letermovir, the first effective drug and very well tolerated drug against cytomegalo virus, now allows to test in clinical studies its usefulness for HIV patients, newborns, spepsis patients, patients with autoimmune diseases (eg of the colon), etc
