What is it about?

Investigation in identity construction dynamics is one of the important fields in sociolinguistics. we have shown that ethnic identity construction could be associated with political conflict, particularly where minority linguistic rights are denied.

Why is it important?

The study came to a number of conclusions, the most important of which were the communities investigated were found to have revitalized their native languages by taking pride in them in different domains; there was a perceived aversion towards Arabic across the groups studied; there was a conscious revitalization of ethnolinguistic identities, and the current conflict has played an important role in the emergence of revitalized ethnolinguistic identities.

Perspectives

I believe that this publication will improve people's understanding of the nature of conflict in Darfur and how important is to find out a reasonable language policy that will address the issue of language in darfur and Sudan as a whole
