What is it about?
Minimum re-testing intervals help labs identified inappropriately requested laboratory medicine tests that are done too soon after the last test. Since the introduction of guidelines in 2011 more labs are using this tool to identified such tests.

Why is it important?
Doing a test too soon after it has been requested may cause harm to the patient, waste resources and money and may not be helpful.
