What is it about?
Sepsis is a leading cause of death and disability. We tested the hypothesis that there may be consequential and significant differences in sepsis outcomes that result from differences in a patient’s clinical course leading up to sepsis hospitalization. We found several distinct paths into sepsis based on trajectories of inpatient healthcare use, and these paths are predictive of 90-day mortality.
