What is it about?
Many large enterprises successfully implement the Six Sigma methodology and achieve a cost saving of more than millions per year, however, it is a rare case that small and medium-sized enterprises employ the Six Sigma methodology in China. This paper aims to identify and assess the barriers to Six Sigma implementation for small and medium steel enterprises of SMEs in China. his paper is the first research study to identify the barriers to Six Sigma implementation targeting small and medium enterprises in China. This research seeks to establish a foundation for future research in identifying the solution to overcome the barriers to Six Sigma implementation for the small and medium Chinese steel enterprise as well as aware the enterprises that wish to implement Six Sigma the possible barriers and made relevant preparation before full-scale implementation.

Six Sigma can be very helpful to organizations of all sizes, but the literature indicates that mainly large ones are the ones utilizing Six Sigma the most. Despite the anticipated benefits for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), In addition, Six Sigma take-up rates in western SMEs are better than their Asian counterpart. Each sector, market, and country has its own reasons for such low take-up rates. understanding the phenomena in China is very important to current literature and to decision-makers in both industry and regulatory bodies.
