What is it about?

This article is about vampires appearing in non-horror television series during the 1980s and 1990s. It examines the evolution of the TV vampire as a trope in US television, and how this trope shifts and changes as the landscape of television shifts on network television. Vampires are not widespread in 1980s television, and as such, their representation is still in contention with older stereotypes, which slowly give way to new forms of undead representation during the 1990s.
