What is it about?
In Gloria (2013) and the faithful English-language remake Gloria Bell (2018), Chilean director Sebastián Lelio illustrates how urban interconnections are tenuous. Gloria’s city is alienating. She experiences abandonment and loneliness and copes with a sense of isolation through dancing and a bright wardrobe (which she uses to perform).

Why is it important?
Gloria's loneliness in Lelio's films is akin to the isolation of a pandemic. Gloria attempts to connect with her children but they seem unreachable. At the same time, she is resilient and keeps on going.
