What is it about?
This essay is about how the use of colour in clothing enables Black men to express a type of joy that the politicisation of their bodies and skin and the expectation of their aggression has denied them off. The article also discusses how the propensity of Black men to wear darker colours aligns with the negative perception that they have perhaps embarrassed as a form of psychosocial protection.

Why is it important?
This is important because it addresses the engagement of Black men with their clothing and with colour specifically and asks if the wearing of bright colours and the expressing of joy through clothing enables mitigation against projected ideas of fear, hatred and hyper toxic masculine tropes.
