Why is it important?
Diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension is difficult because symptoms may be late and unspecific. The most important symptom is dyspnea on exertion, however, common diseases like systemic arterial hypertension, HFpEF, COPD, asthma, obesity, may cause the same symptoms as the rare severe pulmonary arterial hypertension. Therefore, sensitive and specific biomarkers for pulmonary hypertension would be very much appreciated.
