There is an ongoing debate in both science and social media regarding hormonal birth control, which might cause more women to discontinue. This study explored the contraceptive pill (dis)continuation experiences of German Social Media Influencers on YouTube.

Why is it important?
Few studies have focused on people's experiences after taking birth control pills. In addition, analyzing the portrayal of the (dis)continuation of the contraceptive pill on social media is important, as it might impact real-life contraceptive decision-making. This study adds valuable insights into the key symptoms of starting and stopping oral contraceptives by portraying the experiences of female YouTubers.
