What is it about?
This study is a plan for a review of research on a topic in healthcare called multiple-long term conditions also known as 'multimorbidity'. Multimorbidity means having two or more long-term health conditions in one individual at the same time. This review will look at studies that examine how much money multimorbidity costs the healthcare system and society as a whole. The findings from this review could help decision-makers understand the economic burden of multiple long-term illnesses and how to better allocate resources.

Why is it important?
This systematic review aims to comprehensively assess the economic burden of multimorbidity. It differs from previous reviews by considering a wider array of disease combinations, various cost components, and providing a more nuanced understanding of how multimorbidity impacts healthcare costs. This information is important because it can inform healthcare policy, resource allocation, and decision-making about how to address the challenges of multimorbidity.
