Why is it important?

The long-term cardiovascular outcomes (heart attached, vein and lung clots, cardiac arrhythmias, etc. ) after the COVID-19 infection are unknown. This study is the first dedicated study assessing whit pre-specified and standardized methodology the potential effects that COVID-19 may have on cardiovascular health.

Perspectives

COVID-19 infection is associated with a high burden of cardiovascular events clustered within the first month. In the post-acute phase beyond 30 days, I think there is a nonsignificant or slightly increased risk of cardiovascular events. Overall, the cardiovascular risk after COVID-19 may not be as high as initially feared. Patients with previous cardiovascular risk factors and require intensive care admission exhibit an increased risk.
