What is it about?
Affective, responsive, encouraging and teaching behaviors in adult-child interaction have shown to improve a child’s development. We observed and assessed those behaviors in a sample of 155 mothers and 155 fathers of typically developing children (10-47 months old) from the same families in Spain, with the PICCOLO, an observational tool.

Why is it important?
This study provides evidence that Spanish mothers and fathers show very similar strengths for promoting children’s development during interactions. No differences were observed in parenting according to the child’s gender.
