What is it about?

Why is it important?

Our findings show that the unmet need for family planning was higher in the study area compared with the United Nations sphere standard of unmet need for family planning and the national average value. Maternal age, educational status, occupation, the desired number of children, and being visited by healthcare providers in the last 12 months were found to be determinants of unmet needs for family planning.

Perspectives

This article affirms the findings of another setting where the unmet need for family planning remains a major gap in an effort to enhance family planning services and improve the health of women. Unless family planning service needs are met and satisfied by the target population, aspired goals related to maternal health will be less likely to be attained.
