What is it about?

Using a case study of Sheffield, UK, this research used GPS from mobile phones to map which greenspaces people were more likely to visit and also show exactly where in those greenspaces people visited. It contained a detailed methodology on how to clean the data given errors and accuracy issues.

Why is it important?

Whilst we hold a wealth of information on where greenspaces are (provision) - we have very little information about who is using them. Such data are usually reliant on expensive and time-consuming in person surveys. This approach demonstrated the feasibility of data to be collected through mobile phone GPS data in order to highlight people's usage of urban greenspace.
