What is it about?
We study a community of planktonic Foraminifera morphologically during an extinction event. We find signs that planktonic Foraminifera react to the increased stress by stabilizing selection, reducing the variation in the community.

Why is it important?
If stabilization is the standard response of planktonic Foraminifera to increased environmental stress, then innovative ability is relatively low. That means that predicted climate changes could have a severe impact on these important marine calcifiers.
