What is it about?
This study used health administrative databases to explore and describe the incidence, prevalence, and mortality of children and adults with neuromuscular disorders. Incidence and prevalence can help measure the burden of disease as well as aid future healthcare planning. This study also looked at the place of death and the use of palliative care towards the end of life.

Why is it important?
Our findings showed that NMD prevalence is rising in children and adults. Also, our findings showed that morality and incidence rates are declining in adults. However, the incidence remains stable in children. The study proves that on a population-based level, there is an increased survival of children and adults with NMD.
