What is it about?

This study helps us understand how science is made on developed and developing countries globally. Developing countries where artianal fisheries play an important socioeconomic role have less capacity for research development in artisanal fisheries science. In other hand, developed coutries, with less socioeconomic dependency up on artisanal fisheries, have strong capacity for developing research and building networks with countries and institutions with massive artisanal fisheries. We also found that research model increased the qualitative and quantitative scientific indicators of researchers.

Why is it important?

Research networks are important to integrate needs and capacities on science development. Colaborative research amond developed and developing institutions may overcome research mismatches globally.

Perspectives

Developed institutions should create oportunities for colaboration with rearch groups in developing countries, where resources are limited and there is a great need for information on their socioeconomic activities. Developing countries must look for and grab these oportunities for colaborations with developed institutions.
