What is it about?

We measured the shell calcification of different planktonic Foraminifera species, and tested how it changes when the environment changes.

Why is it important?

Planktonic Foraminifera are important marine calcifiers and their shell calcification can be used to reconstruct past marine environmental conditions. It is therefore important to better understand their shell calcification response to changing environmental conditions.

Perspectives

Calcification intensity in planktonic Foraminifera is influenced by many factors. The use of this proxy must be refined in the future.
