What is it about?
This study sought to test whether we could explain the oscillation in numbers of beach stranded box jellyfish with oceanographic conditions. There has bee na long term interest in gaining a better understanding of the fluctuation in numbers of stinging box jellies at this location, as the number ranges from a few dozen or so to a few thousand.

Why is it important?
Once an ecological explanation for the variAtion in box jellyfish on and near the beach is obtained, it will allow us to generate predictive models that can be used to help the public and beach users avoid getting stung.
