What is it about?
The study aimed to investigate the impact of the exact geographical distribution of buildings and roads on the transmission dynamics of canine rabies in Thailand. The researchers constructed a stochastic individual-based model and derived the encounter rate of a rabid dog and a susceptible dog based on the assumption of the random movement of rabid animals. The study found that the difference in the geographical feature distribution in two districts with high and low risks of rabies occurrence might be one of the main factors contributing to the difference in the rabies transmission dynamics.
