What is it about?
Cholera a severe watery diarrhea that spread quickly is a major cause of death in Uganda each year. To determine the spread and the DNA of cholera bacteria causing repeated outbreaks, bacteria from cholera stool were tested. We tested 63 batches of cholera germs recovered from cholera patients between 2014_2020 . Our results showed three distinct DNA types that were closely related to those responsible for cholera in East and Central Africa. The cholera germs showed spread into and from Uganda to the countries in East Africa, (Tanzania, South Sudan and Kenya ).
