What is it about?
OtoSurg 1 is an international, multi-site prospective cohort study aimed at creating a de-identified global data registry for pediatric tonsillectomy indications, techniques, and outcomes. In partnership with the Global OHNS Initiative, OtoSurg will establish, recruit, and train a worldwide network of OHNS surgeons and trainees. Our goal is to develop a strong and sustainable digital infrastructure to support future prospective research.

Why is it important?
Pediatric tonsillectomy is one of the most common surgical procedures worldwide; however, outcomes and practices vary significantly across different WHO regions. By gathering standardized data globally, we aim to identify preventable complications, reduce disparities, and improve surgical care for children everywhere. We also hope this study will lay the foundation for future global outcomes research in otolaryngology.
Perspectives
OtoSurg 1 represents a tremendous team effort by medical students, residents, and practicing otolaryngologists worldwide. This article showcases our team's passion and commitment to providing equitable access to high-quality otolaryngology care for all.
