What is it about?
This study explores whether the benefits of a levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine device (LNG-IUD) in women with heavy menstrual bleeding differ according to benign endometrial pathology. It focuses on changes in bleeding symptoms, quality of life, and emotional well-being after treatment.

Why is it important?
Heavy menstrual bleeding can seriously affect women’s daily life, emotional well-being, and overall health. Knowing whether treatment benefits vary according to endometrial findings helps clinicians and patients make more confident treatment decisions. This study shows that the LNG-IUD improves bleeding control, quality of life, and mood regardless of benign endometrial pathology, supporting its broad and reliable use in clinical practice.
Perspectives
Writing this article was particularly meaningful from a clinical perspective. In daily practice, clinicians often question in which patients the levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine device is most effective and in whom it may be less beneficial. We were especially interested in whether benign endometrial pathology could influence treatment response. This study was designed to address this practical clinical uncertainty and to support more evidence-based treatment decisions.
