What is it about?

Early diagnosis is important for TB control and prevention. We integrated spatial and socioeconomic data to map burden hotspots of delayed diagnosis of TB. We have demonstrated that clusters of delayed TB cases were prevalent in informal settlements in Nairobi, which were also areas with low-income levels.

Why is it important?

Previous researchers have utilized surveillance data. Individual-level data pinpoint individual-level factors for delayed diagnosis. This spatial analysis is critical for tailoring TB interventions to hotspot regions, which can be effective rather than generalizing the intervention..

Perspectives

This research has the potential to significantly enhance future studies, particularly in the development of interventional designs focused on community-based patient screening and service referral. I find this prospect highly exciting.
