What is it about?

The transfer of knowledge between different areas of scientific research is important to solve complex challenges. In this work, we develop methods for mapping and measuring knowledge transfer over time. Our methods highlight how contemporary research topics (such as eXplainable Artificial Intelligence) are built on foundational knowledge from diverse sources (such as statistics, computer science and psychology), while other research areas exist as "knowledge silos" that are isolated from the broader knowledge base.
