What is it about?

I proposed to represent the enzymatic reaction network regulating the cell in the form of a partition of sets. The partitioning and merging of the elements of the partition of sets corresponds to the deformation of the network structure, and can be applied to the search for enzymatic network structures.

Why is it important?

As an application in synthetic biology, the partition representation can be used to search for enzymatic reaction networks with desired properties. We have actually succeeded in searching for enzymatic reaction networks with bistability, which is important in cell regulation.

Perspectives

In this study, we used it to search for enzymatic reaction networks with bistability, but it can easily be applied to search for enzymatic reaction networks with dynamic properties such as adaptive response by changing the evaluation function used in the search.
