What is it about?

This work is a review of how artificial intelligence (AI), especially tools like ChatGPT, is being used in academic writing within the social sciences. We looked at various studies to understand the trends, benefits, and challenges of using AI for writing academic papers. We found that AI can help make writing more efficient and accurate, but it also raises questions about ethics, quality, and the independence of researchers.

Perspectives

From my research-method perspective, this publication has some key aspects: -Systematic Literature Review (SLR): We conducted a comprehensive review of existing studies on the use of AI in academic writing within the social sciences. This method involves systematically searching, selecting, and synthesizing relevant research to provide an overview of the current state of knowledge. -Data Sources: The review included articles from major academic databases like Web of Science and Scopus, ensuring a broad and credible selection of studies. -Thematic Analysis: We identified common themes and trends in the literature, such as the applications of AI tools, ethical considerations, and the impact on writing quality and efficiency. -Ethical and Quality Considerations: The study also examined the ethical implications and quality issues related to the use of AI in academic writing, providing a balanced view of both the benefits and challenges. -Guidance for Future Research: By highlighting gaps and suggesting future research directions, the publication aims to guide further studies in this evolving field.
