What is it about?
This work shows the impact of geometrical properties on individual pores of carbonate reservoir rocks on permeability and porosity predictions, two important parameters for the oil industry. These geometrical properties were obtained from 3D images (X-ray tomography) with a voxel size of ~1um (i.e. high resolution).

Why is it important?
This work shows how is important to start using 3D images to study the pore space of carbonate rocks and to re-think the use of well-known models that predict acoustic velocity and permeability, but normally fail when applied to carbonate rocks.
