What is it about?
This paper was the first to describe the link between blood metal ion concentrations and bearing diameter as well as the effect of anteversion of the acetabular component. It highlighted the potential for massive elevations in blood cobalt and chromium concentrations in patients who had received ASR resurfacing devices. *Note, the X-ray image below is a post-operative radiograph showing the measurements performed (IA, inclination angle; SNA, stem-neck angle; SSA, stem-shaft angle).
